Responding to the Mentally Ill in Love

Join Clayton Valley Presbyterian Church and 2MIPeople (Pastor Johanna’s nonprofit ministry to the mentally ill) to welcome Christine Scudder from U.C. Berkeley for a special afternoon workshop learning how to support people with diagnoses like schizophrenia that feature psychotic symptoms. Christine Scudder is an expert in social work and mental health. You can learn more about her on her faculty page at U.C. Berkeley. Clicking this link will take you to Christine Scudder’s faculty page on U.C. Berkeley’s website. We all want to support people with mental illness because we know what it’s like to feel isolated, but we don’t always know how best to help. Ms. Scudder will walk us through some common scenarios of encountering the mentally ill and provide guidance for how to relate to them in love and help them deescalate situations. Join us at 2 PM on Sunday, October 18 for this special event. Contact Lisa Justice for the Zoom invitation or more information. If you would like to submit a question for Ms. Scudder to address, please email Lisa at fpcc@fpcconcord.org. Please submit questions by Friday, October 2.
