Welcome!
We are
delighted you are interested in our Preschool and are considering
enrolling your child. Our preschool has been in operation for
35 years offering children appropriate play experiences which
contribute to their physical, social, emotional, intellectual and
spiritual development in a safe and nurturing Christian atmosphere.
If you register
to join us in the fall, your child's enrollment forms will be mailed
to you in June. Come in to pick up your registration
packet. If you have any questions call Jerolyn Soldahl at
676-6244 or send an e-mail
to Jerolyn.
Our
School Philosophy
We believe
childrens sense of self-worth is best developed when they feel
loved and led to discover the joy of independent learning. We
recognize that the primary venue for a preschoolers emotional
growth is the home. We see our role as supporting parents in the
nurture of their children and enriching childrens experience in
a group setting.
We embody this
philosophy by:
Accountability
Our preschool
was established by the Session of First Presbyterian Church of
Concord in September 1970. As a ministry of FPCC, we are accountable
to the Session (church elders) through the Childrens Ministries Department.
We are licensed
by the State of California, Department of Social Welfare, License
Number 070200266, for a program of up to 96 children. We are
inspected regularly and are in compliance with state regulations.
Policies and
direction are provided by a preschool board, comprising the director
Jerolyn Soldahl, childrens ministry director Marlene Ssebulime,
members of First Presbyterian Church and parent representatives. The
board meets monthly and welcomes all parent feedback.
We
are a Christian Preschool
The FPCC
Preschool seeks in age-appropriate ways to introduce children to the
reality that God loves them and that Jesus wants to be their friend
and guide. Children of all religious or non-religious backgrounds are
welcome, but need to know that we are Christians. Children are
expected to participate fully in weekly chapel time and prayers. Our
board and teachers adopted the following statement of faith:
-
We believe in
one God, who has always existed in three persons: Father, Son and
Holy Spirit.
- We
believe in God the Father, whose creation reveals his power and
imagination, and whose love extends to every person everywhere.
- We
believe God visited us in human form so that we could know him
personally in his Son Jesus Christ, through his miraculous birth, his
sinless life, his miracles and teaching, his death on the Cross, and
his bodily resurrection from the dead. We believe that Jesus was a
perfect human being, while being fully God at the same time.
- We
believe that human beings are created in Gods image; but that
image can be hard to see, because sinrebellion against
Gods willhas corroded our nature and broken our
relationship with God. But &ldots;
- We
believe that Jesus Christ demonstrated his love for lost and sinful
people by taking the punishment we deserved upon himself. We believe
that the Holy Spirit helps us to recognize our sin and leads us to
salvation through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, who alone
reconciles us to God and makes us new people in him.
- We
believe in the ongoing ministry of the Holy Spirit, who empowers us
to live good lives that express our faith and gratitude for Gods
grace. We understand that living a good life does not earn Gods
salvation, but says thank you for Gods
unconditional love already given.
- We
believe that everyone lives after their physical death: those in
Christ dwell in Gods presence forever, and those by their own
choice without Christ exist eternally without God.
- We
believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible and uniquely
authoritative Word of God, and our guide in faith and life.
- We
believe the Church is Gods visible family on earth, bound
together by common trust in Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy
Spirit. Our job is to introduce everyone to Jesus Christ, our friend,
our Savior, and our Lord.
