Join us for collective prayer and reflection
–– and breakfast –– on a way forward in these troubled times
Thursday Aug. 22, 2019,

Ygnacio Valley Presbyterian Church

It is hard to be still, there is so much to do, so much injustice, so urgent that we resist the attacks and the demonization of the poor, immigrants, and people of color.
Isn’t this a time when we need to be anything but still? The Psalmist could be describing our situation when s/he declares: “The nations rage, the kingdoms totter” (Psalms 46:6, ESV).
In our urgency to “do something” it’s easy to forget that our action is grounded in God’s action, that our work for justice and human dignity does not start with us, and is not, finally, our work, but is our response to the call from the God of justice and human dignity whom we follow in faith.
We will gather to be still together, to reconnect with God’s call and the potent resources of our faiths, and to prayerfully discern our roles, pastoral and prophetic, in this present moment.
We will reflect on the intensifying crisis for immigrants both in terms of housing displacement and threats from ICE.
Please come pray and discern with us so that we might together chart a path towards deeper solidarity and witness in our County in this moment.
