Community Presbyterian Church (CPC) in Danville to Leave PC(USA)

On Monday March 26th the Permanent Judicial Commission (PJC) of the Synod of the Pacific issued a ruling which allows CPC to be dismissed from the PC(USA) and to keep their property in accordance with the original terms negotiated and approved by Presbytery in 2010. This clears the path for CPC's dismissal, ending a process that began in late 2008 when their Session first began work to understand the theological direction of the PC(USA) and how CPC should respond, and the vote by CPC membership in September 2010 to request dismissal in order to join the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). Please join in asking for God’s blessing for the future of CPC and their new denomination.

A Denominational Response Team (DRT) has been formed to help lead FPCC through a period of discernment regarding denomination issues facing FPCC. Team members include Dan Baxter, Rogene Baxter, David Dowell, and David Stearns.

Over the next several months the DRT will be meeting with the congregation in large and small groups in order to discuss the issues that concern us in the PC(USA), to listen to each other in order to better understand our beliefs, to pray for the church and to listen for God's voice.
